Lonnie Williams Jr. brings a rare perspective to child support cases: he has worked on both sides of the process.
Before representing individuals and families, Lonnie worked inside the Texas Office of the Attorney General – first as a Child Support Officer and later as an Assistant Attorney General. He learned firsthand how child support cases are evaluated, prepared, negotiated, and presented in court.
Today, he puts that experience to work for The Farmer Law Group’s clients facing child support disputes.
Lonnie’s path to family law advocacy began as a Child Support Officer with the Office of the Attorney General, where he learned the day-to-day policies and procedures that drive the agency’s enforcement of child support obligations. That experience opened the door to a promotion to Assistant Attorney General, where he conducted evidentiary hearings in IV-D and District Court, negotiated the terms of final orders between obligors and obligees, and deepened his understanding of the laws and reasoning behind how the OAG operates.
Lonnie earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Illinois College of Law, where he received the Rickert Trial Advocacy Award (selected top 6 of 800 competitors), and his Bachelor of Arts in Government from the University of Texas at Austin. He is licensed to practice law in the State of Texas.
A Dallas native, Lonnie has represented the State throughout Dallas and the surrounding counties, including Ellis, Kaufman, Navarro, Collin, and Rockwall, and now looks forward to representing families in need of help in those very same courts. His familiarity with the local courts, combined with his years of experience on both sides of the child support process, make him a strong advocate for area residents facing difficult child support disputes. Outside the office, Lonnie enjoys spending time with family, music, and drawing.
